Sumner Point Greenway Project
OVERVIEW:
Build a Pedestrian/greenway tunnel under New Shackle Island where the existing culvert resides and a greenway path along side the small stream that now runs the center of the property. The developers plan to re-route the stream to the outside nearest Vietnam Highway.
ACTION NEEDED:
1) A petition from the neighborhood residences on both sides of New Shackle to make this a main connector point to the Wessington/Drakes Creek Park System and the Mall area.
2) Call and/or write to the planning board and aldermen !!
Based on Ward # 6 Alderman Brian Beltcher .... Ward # 3 would be covered in Tunnel In addition Brian feels this is benefical to entire community .... read his comment I have cut & pasted below.

Based solely on the drawing it would be Ward 3 and Ward 6 only..........but I believe the whole city to benefit... Let me know how I can help you! Just as a note Mark Skidmore (Ward 3 Alderman) is the Chair of the Public Works Committee and I am also on that Committee...the other person on that committee is Jack Long. This is the committee that will make the recommendation to the board....if you can sway Mark to be on our side it will make it much easier!
