Subject: Tour de Nash Thoughts
I was really surprised about the greenways and bike lanes in Nashville. The city has made a great start at preserving some of the areas for use by walkers, runners, and cyclists. The Shelby park Shelby Bottoms greenway and the greeway around metro center were superb.

HTC report is on the city's website asking for citizen input. Frankly, we are not expecting much input, but it might be worthwhile to encourage your biking friends to respond. Under City Character and Culture, I made very few recommendations (because several of my committees wanted buildings and I do not feel qualified to recommend in such instances. One recommendation that I did make is that the work of the biking committee should be continued and that they should become an official Greenways Committee. To me this is a no brainer, since there is no cost to the city to do this and they have an excellent committee that should be allowed to continue to work toward their goals. It would help if someone else says this too. Shirley Wilson, May 12, 2006
